Why is skin resurfacing so important for healthy, youthful looking skin?

Skin resurfacing plays a key role in restoring clarity, smoothness, and radiance. By encouraging gentle exfoliation and skin renewal, it helps to refine texture, even tone, and reveal healthier-looking skin.

Why is skin health essential in aesthetics?

A chemical peel is a treatment where a chemical substance, such as TCA (trichloroacetic acid) or glycolic acid, is applied to the skin to exfoliate the top layers of the skin. This process stimulates the skin to produce new cells, improving skin structure, reducing wrinkles and fading pigmentation. The peeling also increases collagen and elastin production, making the skin firmer and smoother.

How is treatment tailored?

We offer a carefully selected range of resurfacing treatments and strengths, allowing us to personalise your experience based on your skin type, concerns, and goals for safe, effective, and natural results.

What Types of Chemical Peels are there?

1. TCA Peeling (Trichloroacetic Acid) BioRePeel

The TCA Peeling is a medium peel that is suitable for people with skin problems such as pigmentation, wide pores, fine lines and superficial acne scars. The TCA Peeling promotes cell division in the deeper layers of the skin and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which make the skin thicker and firmer. At The Bloom Wellness Room, I work with BioRePeel, which promotes skin rejuvenation with minimal to no downtime. It uses a 35% TCA solution to exfoliate, stimulate collagen, and target acne, fine lines, and pigmentation on the face, neck, and body. It is suitable for all skin types and seasons.

2. Glycolic Acid Peel

A glycolic acid peel is a chemical exfoliation treatment that uses alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) to remove dead skin cells, enhancing texture, tone, and brightness. It stimulates collagen production to reduce fine lines, acne, and hyperpigmentation. Concentrations range from gentle home treatments (10%) to strong professional peels (up to 70%) which allows us to choose a strength, or build up your toloerance to higher concentrations over a course of treatments to optimise results.

3. Other Types Of Acids

There are a variety of other acids that can be utilised to target specific skin issues, including:

  • Lactic Acid: Concentrations between 5-12% have been shown to induce collagen renewal to improve skin firmness. Stimulates the production of ceramides, which are crucial for a healthy, protective skin barrier. For acne management it has antimicrobial properties help keep skin-disrupting bacteria at bay, making it effective for treating mild acne without irritation.
  • Mandelic Acid: Effective exfoliation - removes dead skin cells without the high irritation. Effectively targets hyperpigmentation, melasma, and post-acne marks, improving overall skin tone. Promotes collagen production to improve skin elasticity, firm the skin, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Great for sensitive, oily or acne prone skin.
  • Azaelic Acid: A versatile skincare ingredient that acts as an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and gentle exfoliant to treat acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation. It unclogs pores, reduces redness, and inhibits tyrosinase to fade dark spots, making it suitable for sensitive skin types, including during pregnancy.
  • Ferulaic Acid: A potent plant-based antioxidant that neutralises free radicals, reduces inflammation, and reverses signs of agiing like fine lines and sunspots. It significantly boosts the stability and efficacy of vitamins C and E, making it a staple in brightening and protective anti-aging serums. Reduces Hyperpigmentation & Brightens as It inhibits the enzyme responsible for melanin production, fading sunspots and evening skin tone.

Will My Skin Peel After?

No it will will not. Your skin will only peel at the highest concentrations. Mild irritation, redness and irritation may be experienced at medium concentrations but will be mild and short lived.
